CTNC Applies Radio Tracking to Study the Southern Vietnamese Box Turtle 📷 Recently, officers from the Center for Technology and Nature Conservation (CTNC) carried out a field mission applying radio tracking method to monitor individuals of the Southern Vietnamese Box Turtle (Cuora picturata) that had been previously fitted with tracking chips. The radio tracking method enables researchers to identify the turtles’ home range, habitat preferences, and behavioral patterns in the wild. By following radio signals transmitted from the tagged turtles, the field researcher can accurately locates and records their positions, helping to better understand their ecological requirements and movement patterns. Importantly, this research activity was carried out in collaboration with local community members, who actively assisted the CTNC team in navigating forest terrain and locating signal points. Their involvement not only enhanced the efficiency and safety of the survey, but also helped to raise awareness and foster community participation in wildlife conservation.
