For the 11th consecutive year in February, high school student athletes across different sports and states have been out throughout the month creating smiles in the same amount of time it takes to play a game. For example in Highland Park, #WGN followed LIVE as 50 student athletes from Highland Park and Deerfield showed the true meaning of competitors on the field and teammates in the #GameOfLife by hitting the streets together to create smiles. From paying for coffee, handing out kindness cards with a few bucks in them to pay if forward to buying groceries, paying for breakfast, placing kindness rocks around town and making a big $1,400 tip for 14 total waiters, waitresses and cooks at one restaurant, the student athletes went above and beyond over a 90-minute stretch. And that was just in Highland Park. I’ll be showing more pictures and videos from teams across the Chicago, Miami and Dallas regions. Remember: All games, seasons and careers eventually come to an end, but the opportunity to make a difference and enhance the lives of others never does. #ICYMI on #CBS: 100s of high school students from St. Edward in #Elgin were in different communities creating a wave of service to enhance the lives of others. The school helped support nine different organizations on Wednesday, with students on-site at seven of those locations.
