This innovative tool, SpyPhi, allows us to utilize real-time 4K imaging at 60fps to evaluate and locate arteries that may be buried in fat, saving valuable time during surgery.
In a recent case, we used SpyPhi to assess a left internal mammary artery that was sewn to a previously totally occluded left anterior descending artery with retrograde flow. The fluorescent imaging provided by SpyPhi allowed us to determine the patency of the anastomosis with unparalleled precision, surpassing the capabilities of traditional doppler methods.
By developing AI algorithms for improved image analysis, we can enhance the predictive capabilities of SpyPhi and personalize treatment plans with automation. This will enable quicker real-time decision-making during surgery.
