Looking back at this last week, tour-lag days are normally at home, but this week I was able to bring my 1 with me & am filled with gratitude - yet also hugely aware of my privilege and of others’ suffering. It’s the end of October, which is #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth and I never thought I could call myself a victim survivor - but here we are: surviving through it all & realising how important it is to shed the shame and speak out #DVAM #EndDomesticViolence I’m abundantly aware that as a result of our advocacy we are losing young male fans by the thousands each week, but I hope that the young men still following us will join the conversation in a constructive way. I know it’s easier to digest posts about dance music&Jäger shots - and had I never lived through what I do, I would probably still be on that same page. I’m raising my daughter as a solo parent. It was never my intention and I still value nuclear family values. I hope she gets a paternal side one day, I hope she is free from domestic abuse - and I hope she will, unlike me, be able to make choices about her reproductive autonomy, and that the courts in the land will better recognise the abuse that we have lived and still live through. On this #DíadelosMuertos I want to honour all victims who lost their lives to domestic abuse or who spent their lives advocating for safety and change.
