My presentation, β€œReimagining Talent Development in Professional Football”, explores some of the organisational and methodological challenges facing contemporary professional football club environments. As clubs continue to expand their staffing structures and specialist departments, an important question emerges: How do organisations create alignment, shared meaning, and coherent player development experiences across increasingly complex performance systems? Across the two-day conference, I’ll have the opportunity to present findings from a recent study, engage with world-leading researchers and practitioners, and contribute to important academic discussions within the field. Proud that the abstract has also been accepted for inclusion in a special issue of the Journal of Expertise. Looking forward to connecting with colleagues, researchers and practitioners, exchanging ideas, and continuing conversations around how we can better design learning environments that support both people and performance within professional football. Always interested in conversations around talent development, organisational alignment, and coach learning within elite sport. #TIDES2026 #TalentDevelopment #FootballCoaching #SkillAcquisition #EcologicalDynamics #PlayerDevelopment #CoachDevelopment #ResearchInPractice #FootballResearch #Transdisciplinary #UEFA #CoachingResearch #ProfessionalDevelopment #CoachEducation

I am enjoying my new found ability to add more text! I feel the need to apologise to the world what I am about to unleash on you.. πŸŽ‰ Interesting read! Research recently published on how to make the most of research in clinical practice πŸŽ‰ πŸ‘‰ Spoiler alert: It’s not about single interventions. The real game-changer is boosting organisational capability to use research in practice. πŸ‘‰ In the realm of Implementation Science, it’s clear that practice has a huge role to play. Organisational learning is about having a proactive whanaungatanga (relationship) with research, making knowledge creation a core part of the organisation's mauri (life force). πŸ‘‰ Many organisations rely on training to develop their capability, but this approach is limiting and doesn't do justice to the vast amount of research available. Instead, a proactive approach that considers context is crucial. πŸ‘‰ This means organisations need to actively engage with research. It’s about integrating research into everyday practices, decision-making, and problem-solving processes. πŸ‘‰ The review noted that education strategies can be useful to improve provider understanding, but without wider organisational or system-level change, they may struggle to deliver sustained transformation. πŸ’‘ Organisations should do more with research – set the research questions yourselves (in collaboration with the people you support), rather than leaving it to academic institutions. This ensures the research is relevant and immediately applicable, addressing real-world challenges. πŸ‘ And a big shout out to external training providers! My early research suggested that external training providers have an important role to play in introducing new research to organisations. They are definitely not valued enough! so please give them some love for the important mahi (work) they do. πŸ’― Dive deeper into the details here: Research to Practice πŸ’‘πŸ”— implementationscience.biomed… hashtag#ImplementationScience hashtag#OrganizationalLearning hashtag#ResearchInPractice hashtag#ClinicalPractice hashtag#ProactiveResearch hashtag#KnowledgeCreation hashtag#ExternalTraining hashtag#OrganizationalDevelopment hashtag#ResearchImpact hashtag#ContextMatters hashtag#TransformativeLearning hashtag#ContinuousImprovement
