🎙️“The ‘why’ is service to others—and how I can continue to make a positive change in someone’s life.”
Ericka Alexander, Manager of Communications and Outreach at the Detroit Transportation Corporation (Detroit People Mover), is a Detroiter—born, raised, educated, and employed here—with a deep love for people, community, and the city’s momentum.
When it comes to her favorite stop along the route, Ericka says choosing is hard, but Cadillac Center Station is the one. It’s truly central: steps from Woodward and Campus Martius Park, across from Hudson’s Detroit, and a short stroll to Library Street, The Belt, and Broadway. And inside the station, Detroit’s story shines, through a permanent Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) installation, towering Pewabic tiles that glitter, and nods to the historic Stroh Brewery on the walls.
She also leads group and school tours of Art in the Stations (March–October) proof that the People Mover is more than transportation; it’s a moving gallery and a connection point for the city.
And if she could ride with anyone? Prince…because Detroit’s love for Prince is forever, and she’d add his song as a People Mover soundtrack for everyone to hear.
📍Hop off at Cadillac Center Station and experience Detroit through Ericka’s eye, where public art, public space, and public transit meet.
A big thank you to Ericka for being the voice behind so many updates, connections, and moments that keep Detroit in the loop.
