I'm sorry but the first gen is so laughably out of touch. I genuinely believe that our progress in America is contingent on the active marginalization of this FOB mentality. America is not a collection of "communities" like India. It is an society of individuals with a national civic culture grounded in Protestantism. This fetishization of "holding on to one's traditions" is nothing but an admission of failure by first gen Hindus to adapt their religion to the prevailing value system.
