Our Parkinson's Champions are taking on the Lifetime Chicago Springtime Half Marathon next weekend–and Kate is running for a special reason: her dad, Ted. 🏃‍♀️‍➡️ She shared: "I am running this race alongside my husband, in honor of my dad, Ted Burrows, who passed away from complications related to [Parkinson's disease] in 2018. While he wasn't a huge runner he often regaled me with stories of the time he ran the NYC marathon in the 1980s. I'm sad that he isn't here to run with me today, but I'm proud to run in his honor." Today, Parkinson's Champions are taking on the Disneyland Halloween Half Weekend! 🎃 All of our team members #run4PD, but Rachel is running in memory of her Mammaw & Senior Olympian, Sandra Guy (pictured). 🏃‍♀️ Rachel shared: "I grew up knowing my Mammaw wasn’t your average grandmother. She had many joys in life but she truly came alive on a softball field or track. I grew up watching her (and my Pappaw!) compete at the Senior Games in multiple sports, often winning the gold medal or setting state and national records... She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease around 2007 but was determined to continue to run, stay active, and do the things she loved."
