Yesterday, the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce participated in a quarterly meeting with the Upstate Veterans Alliance Network (UVAN) to discuss how veterans can thrive and transition into the workforce.
Representative of DEW, Curtis McCray, the State Veteran Liaison, was in attendance at the quarterly meeting to discuss the Stay to Apply Your Skills (STAYS) Program, which encourages veterans to stay in South Carolina by offering five interview opportunities and other valuable resources for veterans and their spouses.
During yesterday's quarterly meeting, keynote speakers, including HR Representatives Anna Harris with
@NARescue and Alison Pruitt with
@ChampionAERO, shared tips on how jobseekers can succeed in interviews and in their roles. Additionally, a small-business panel consisting of One Peak Pest Control, United Front Safety,
@WaiteSLTS, UWS Entrepreneurship, and
@remax shared their experiences opening their businesses and their motivation for creating a community of veterans to utilize their transferable skills in everyday life.
