Year 7 student, Isabel, recently received a Head’s Commendation for her impressive science project. Isabel created a large model of a motor neurone, which conveys electrical impulses to muscle cells or other neurones in your body by constructing papier-mâché. #SGGS #SGGSScience

This week, students in 7C got creative with Chemistry and developed their own Acid and Alkali Indicators at home using household food and plants. This resulted in bright colours produced based on the pH levels of their solutions. Well done to 7C! #SGGSChemistry #SGGSScience

Despite lockdown we were able to run the Physics Olympiad Junior Challenge with Y10 again this year. The results achieved are superb: 8 Gold awards, 42 Silver awards, 50 Bronze awards and 9 Commendations. An amazing effort - well done, all! #Proud #SGGSPhysics #SGGSScience

We were pleased to be able to do something to help those on the front line, last week. We sent 2 trays of goggles from the #SGGSScience dept along to a local surgery, along with some gloves, too. We also sent all our stocks of hand sanitiser to @SurgeryCourt #NHSThankYou

Year 7 designed, built & tested a water system to provide water from an elevated reservoir to 3 villages (30cm below the reservoir) The winning team saved the most money from their budget & collected the most water in their villages. Great work! #SGGSScienceWeek #SGGSScience

British entrepreneur Edward Craven-Walker had the idea for the lava lamp in 1963 after watching a homemade egg timer which was made from a cocktail shaker filled with liquids, as it was bubbling on a stove top in a pub. As part of our #SGGSScience Week Y8 have made their own!
