I've played in A a lot back in the day. I wasn't using a gauge good enough for it and the tension was floppy as hell, but you can get some good stuff out of.
I like B for learning Carcass, At The Gates and Arch Enemy stuff. There's a lot of good death metal riffs in B and A.

It's an EVH. It definitely has the bottom end for it 😂 You just gotta work it out of it. I bet it does it really well.
The 6505 can do it pretty good, I'd be shocked as shit if the EVH couldn't. I'd think it'd do it even better than a 6505!

A is way more versatile than G. 70g strings make you have to move the pick around a lot mid riff

I love 50s for the low E. 48’s are good too, but 50s are better.
As far as 52s, those suckers tear my fingers to shreds.
That’s nothing though; my boy @Phoenix2A_1980s is rockin’ a 70g for his low string!!!

I'm gonna try a new gauge of strings. I've used 10-52 FOREVER, but been using 10-48 for E & Eb Standard lately. I also play in D & C# Standard often, so I got some of these guys on the way. I'm liking @sitstrings a lot lately, their 9-46 & 10-52 are really great strings.

Gone from Ernie Ball super slinky to D'iaddario 9 46, too many counterfeit EB doing the rounds for my liking , they need to do a code on the package like D'iaddario
