Here is the concept I wish I could go back in time to teach my 23-year-old self: Asymmetric Opportunity There are two types of Asymmetric Opportunities: • Asymmetric upside is when the upside is much > than the downside. • Asymmetric downside is when the downside is much > than the upside. The goal is to do more things with "Big Reward" and "Small Risk" Here are some examples: 1. 𝐆𝐨 𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 Asking someone out on a date has a huge asymmetric upside. You might hit it off and end up in a relationship. If not you'd just be a little embarrassed and maybe awkward with the person afterward. Or you end up getting married. 2. 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐬 Investing in a startup can lead to massive returns. Many think you need millions to invest, but the truth is, you can start with a $1000 check. 3. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 Similar to investing, your company's growth will lead to your growth. You can learn how to start a company, with help from the world's top startup accelerator Y Combinator via YC Startup School You can then start your LLC with @doolaHQ. 4. 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤, 𝐩𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭, 𝐨𝐫 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 Media is the original software business. You create something once. And you can easily duplicate it millions of times with no additional cost Ask yourself: "What works for you when you're done working?" 5. 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 (𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞/AI) 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 SoftwareAI/ is eating the world. All of the technology required to transform industries through software finally works and can be widely delivered on a global scale. 6. Mouths. Don't. Get. Fed. 9. NFL Data Analysis: Kick to Win: An Analysis of #NFL Performance Through Kicking Statistics. In this analysis we gathered data from two full NFL seasons and used machine learning models to see if kicking stats (like field goals made, attempted, and points) could predict the outcome of games. The models we tested included Linear Regression, Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Decision Trees. Here’s what we found: The Linear Regression model performed the best, with an R² of 66.95%, meaning it explained nearly 67% of the variance in game outcomes based on kicking stats. The Decision Tree model was next, at 53.76%, and SVM lagged behind with 39.60%. The errors were also smallest in the Linear Regression model (MSE = 0.0152), showing it was the most accurate. However, none of the models were perfect. They all violated key statistical assumptions that could affect how accurate the predictions are. The Linear Regression model, for example, violated almost all the assumptions, but still performed the best. The takeaway? Kicking does have an impact on the game, but it’s not enough to predict outcomes on its own. Kicking stats alone aren’t the full story of why a team wins or loses – and we found that including more data, like team offense or defense stats, would make the predictions much more reliable.
