Dear Veterans
Update of Protest at Jantar Mantar on 11 March from 10.00 AM to 1.30 PM for Disability Pension & ECHS issues.
At the outset, we thank all the Veterans for making this protest Successful. Our estimates are that around 2000 plus people came for the PROTEST which was started with our MPs, Capt Viriato Fernandese from Goa & Ms Pariniti Shinde from Maharashtra . As per our registration desk inputs, people kept flowing in regularly from 10 AM to 1.30 PM. However, heat conditions made them look for cover under shades.
Friends, it is a humble beginning for our defence community to unite and fight for their rights.
We thank -
Gen Satbir Singh, Chairman IESM & Adviser to UFESM
Brig IM Singh, President IESL, their organisation,
And many other Defence organisations for joining the protest.
Our team of Ex Servicemen Dept of Congress HQ (AICC) & States worked tirelessly to make it a success inspite of huge restrictions imposed on us by Delhi Police & 100% non corporations shown by them for making the venue most uncomfortable ( No additional Chairs allowed to put, No shamyanas allowed to erect for cover from Sun). Things became even more difficult due to very hot afternoon & people looking for shade of trees.
I really thank our brave soldiers who braved the odd circumstances & for turning up in large numbers from all the states & UTs of the country.
We were expecting both LoPs (Rahul ji & Kharge ji) to come at 12.30 PM. But, they got stuck in the parliament for important speeches on impeachment of the speaker of Lok Sabha which began from 12.30 PM onwards. This was not scheduled earlier.
However, to fulfill the commitments made to defence fraternity, 16 MPs , 12 MLAs including our tall leader Sachin Pilot ji came to support us. Such overwhelming & unprecedented support extended to our cause by Congress Party.
Capt Viriato Fernandese, our lone MP and strong voice from Defence fraternity in Parliament took great initiative in MPs for our protest.
We thank each one of our colleagues from defence community & Congress Party for their support for our demands.
Kharge ji & Rahul ji have conveyed their continued support & best wishes to all of us.
Thanks & regards
COL Rohit Chaudhry
