We have adjourned Sine Die for this Legislative Session, and one of the most disappointing actions taken by the Governor was his veto to extend the sunset and fund OETA. As your next Governor, one of my first acts will be to extend the sunset and fund OETA.
We know families across this state value the educational programming provided by OETA, but they also know how vital the emergency alert system is for all 77 counties. We are alerted to what’s going on to be prepared during emergencies, even when cell phone networks are down. It is unfortunate the Governor has put partisan politics over the wants and needs of Oklahomans. OETA is beloved across our state, and the recent political attacks are not only embarrassing, but puts public safety at risk.
Please continue to reach out to your State Representative and State Senator to share about your support for OETA. And, let them know, as Oklahoma’s next Governor, I will be ready to extend the sunset and fund OETA as soon as we gavel back into Legislative Session in 2027.
