Target acquisition matters more than people think. Anybody can throw a rifle up and look through glass, but finding your target fast, clearly, and with control is what separates sloppy shooting from disciplined shooting. If your eye placement is off, your sight picture is off. If your sight picture is off, everything after that falls apart. Good shooting starts before the trigger ever gets touched. Acquire the target. Confirm what you’re looking at. Settle in. Stay calm. Stay deliberate. Speed is useless without control.
