Actually, the NATO presence in Kosovo is under a UN mandate. Also, at the request of the Kosovo government. Kosovo was granted autonomy in the Yugoslavia Constitution created in 1974. When Melosevic came to power, he worked to undermine this and stripped Kosovo of its autonomy by political manipulation and military coercion. Eventually changing the Constitution in 1990 and placing Kosovo under strict Serbian rule. This led to the formation of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and the eventual Kosovo War. The UN had its hands tied. Russia (supporting Sebia) vetoed UN intervention. The UN had passed several resolutions demanding an end to the war, but that was as far as it got. NATO, seeing the problem stepped in with a 78-day strategic bombing campaign to stop Yugoslav and Serbian forces from attacking the civilian population. This is still a controversial move. The UN was finally able to pass resolution 1244 after the bombing campaign ended. Resolution 1244 established UN control in Kosovo and allowed for a NATO led peacekeeping force. That peacekeeping force is still there at the request of the Kosovo government. So, no, Serbia was not partitioned by NATO. The conflict over Kosovo was long before NATO got involved.

Chechnya declared independence from Russia in 1991. Russia challenged the Declaration and sent in troops in 1994, sparking the first war in Chechnya. Chechen separatists won, resulting in a cease fire and unrecognized independence for Chechnya. 1999-2000 Russia again attacked Chechnya, this time bringing Chechnya back under control of the Russian government. Serbia was not partitioned. Sebia attacked Bosnia and Slovakia when they declared independence. Serbia was forced to stop. The US has no presence in Syria. Yes, Russia and Syria do have a security agreement allowing Russia to have bases there. Just like the US has agreements with Japan, Korea, Iceland, and Greenland.

If you watch the last Game they played against Sebia, Serbia scored an own goal because of the effective pressing of Mexico.

OMG, after the fall of the USSR, Yugoslavia splintered. The UN got involved and then asked NATO to intervene because of the ethnic cleansing by Sebian forces. Russia sided with Sebia during all of this. 6 countries were created out of Yugoslavia when they all declared their independence. This was not done by the US and NATO, or the UN. The USSR colapsed because the people revolted against the central government. It started in Berlin when the people of East Germany went to the wall and tore it down after the famous speech by Reagan when he said, "Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall." Soon, Poland and other countries followed suit and revolted against Russian rule. When it comes to George Friedman, about 20% of anything he has said actually happened as he predicted. He is not associated in any way with any intelligence agency. In fact, he is considered unreliable by many people in the political spectrum. He is a political speculator, and very little of his work is based in actual fact. Find a new, more credible source.

Terrible move. This gives Russia leverage over NATO. Serbia is only loyal to Russia, their idenity is based on Russia: their flag is almost identical, their loyalty is with Putin. If we want to defeat Russia, we must isolate Sebia and eventually partion to neighbor countries
