Alrighty, well, gun store story of the day, it seems!
About 7 years ago, a young man walked into my shop wearing a Bernie Sanders shirt. He's looking a bit nervous and intimidating, but we're a very welcoming crew.
Get to talking to him and he's looking for his first gun because he is dealing with a stalking issue.
Now, a couple other tidbits about him:
He's a gay jewish school teacher.
Not the kind of person that you would normally expect to be in a gun store.
We talked and showed him a few handguns. He wasn't ready to buy yet, but that's cool, we helped ease him in.
A week later, he was back and bought a CZ75.
A month later he was buying a Sig P365.
Six months later he brought his very leftwing mother to get her first handgun, a Walther CCP.
We created a gun guy, one that has bought several firearms from me.
Fast forward to today:
He's moved to Austin a couple years ago and randomly comes into the shop. Looks like a completely different person.
He is dressing normally, hates politicians, and is admittedly left leaning instead of full socialist.
He's also about to get his instructor certification and then get his LTC instructor cert because he takes a lot of people, mostly liberals, out to go shoot.
We'll never agree on everything, but this is a genuine success story for the 2A. He went from gun control is proper to gun control is hitting your target.
