Agri-Tech Collaborations Revitalize Tomato Farming in Shaanxi
Since 2016, Northwest A&F University has partnered with Jingyang, Shaanxi, to tackle hardened soil, crop viruses and low yields. It introduced new tomato and melon varieties, earthworm casting soil improvement and crop rotation, boosting tomato yields by 30% and per-mu income to 60,000-70,000 yuan. Over 200 agricultural talents trained have turned Jingyang into northwest China’s top protected tomato hub, with products sold domestically and abroad.
