"Don’t fix what ain’t broke. Look at this pen"

Same basic design in 1952, still going strong in 2002, and here it is in 2026, basically unchanged. Clear barrel, blue cap, reliable ink flow. It does its job perfectly, so why mess with perfection?
This is the ultimate reminder in a world obsessed with constant 'innovation.' Companies release new versions of products every year just to create hype. Phones that were already perfect get bloated with features nobody asked for. Cars get touchscreens for everything instead of simple buttons that work when you need them. Software gets 'updated' until it’s slower and more annoying than the old version.
Yet the humble ballpoint pen? It’s laughing at all of us. Still writes smoothly after 73 years. No subscription model. No planned obsolescence. No need for a software update to keep functioning.
Think about it , how many things in your life are like this pen? Your grandma’s cast iron skillet. That old leather jacket that still looks better than anything new. The 20-year-old wrench set that still gets the job done. Real friendships that don’t need constant drama to stay alive. Classic songs that hit harder than whatever’s trending this week.
We’ve been sold this lie that newer = better, that change is always progress. Sometimes the smartest move is to leave something alone if it’s already working beautifully.
In business, the best processes are often the simplest ones that have stood the test of time. In relationships, the strongest ones don’t need constant reinvention. In life, the most valuable wisdom is usually the timeless stuff.
