🔪 Movie Review — Scream 7First things first: politics completely out of the situation. Full stop.
I’m a fan of this cast, a longtime fan of Kevin Williamson going all the way back to his Dawson’s Creek days, and more than anything else—I’m a fan of Scream. So this review lives strictly in the movie space. And honestly? Scream 7 works way better than some folks will give it credit for.Neve Campbell is once again rock solid as Sidney Prescott, but the real surprise here is Isabel May as her daughter. Their relationship adds genuine emotional depth and weight to the story, grounding the film in a way that feels earned rather than gimmicky. That dynamic is one of the strongest elements of the movie, period.Joel McHale does a solid job as Sidney’s husband, and it was great to see Chad and Mindy return from Scream 5 and 6—they fit naturally into the story without overstaying their welcome. The only character that felt a bit forced was Gale Weathers, but even then Courteney Cox is perfectly fine in the role.Compared to the rest of the franchise, this is far from the worst entry. In fact, the more I sit with it, the more I appreciate most of the creative decisions that were made—save for just a couple that didn’t fully land. It’s confident, character-driven, and clearly made by people who understand what Scream is at its core.🧟 Final Score: 4.25/5 Zombie Heads
A strong, emotional entry that proves Scream still has plenty of life—and knives—left in it.
