A bibliometric analysis of 8,473 publications (1991–2025) found annual growth of nearly 15% in the field.
China and the U.S. produced almost half of all research output, while U.S. publications had higher citation impact.
Keyword analysis identified five major themes, including climate dynamics, ecosystem impacts, solar geoengineering and renewable energy, with recent trends pointing toward data-driven methods and climate intervention research.
