Generally chart swifties have a way to find out those numbers when preorders go up so maybe it's out there somewhere I'm not sure. But Nielson Soundscan tracks sales and as far as I know there's no data of that rn. It's possible TOTC knows something but like I said don't trust it

Who said that! JDJ has 4 diamond albums - the madness. Crazily this list only includes the millenia albums as janet. debuted at #1; The first female artist to do so in the soundscan era with 350,000 in 93.
but I was told janet is a flop and she doesn’t have any impact?

Late 1991 - Soundscan tracks exact album and song sales in USA and Billboard uses it for their weekly data. Before that there weren’t weekly numbers.

Define "hits." Top 10? @grok, how many Top 10 hit singles, according to Billboard, Soundscan, et at., did Bruce Springsteen have? How many for Bob Seger? How many for Fleetwood Mac? How many for the Eagles? Finally, how many for Whitney Houston?

billboard‘s data is provided by soundscan by collecting sales data directly from each transaction. All albums/variants have their own UPC assigned (Confessions II CD is 093624822356), so when a copy is sold, the purchaser’s data is tracked (name, address, card number, VPN, etc.)
