Today is extremely special for me and my family . I make a lot of records and I work with a lot of people but this particular artist is extremely special to my spirit . I was given the opportunity and the challenge of producing an album with my uncle Calvin Keys .Calvin is a world class guitarist and extremely high level jazz musician from Omaha Nebraska . Calvin has played & recorded with Ahmad Jamall, Joe Henderson ,Ray Charles & so many more . Calvin is a huge part of my foundation & my sound. My mother told me that when Calvin used to come and visit my father when I was a baby around six months old .I would cry as a baby so much and I wouldn’t sleep at night . One night Calvin was over to the house and I was crying. My mother looked extremely stressed out and Calvin grabbed his guitar and went over to my crib and begin playing different jazz standards to me . I would stare at the guitar & instantly go to sleep. He would come by many of nights and do this a lot . My father & mother believe that this was the beginning of me falling in love with music. Calvin keys is a national treasure and one of our Jazz superheroes . He has been providing the world with Music for over 60 years & at 81 years young he still playing with the heart & creative edge of a teenager . It was an absolute honor to do this album .
