🌍📊
@WMO has just released its "State of the Global Climate 2025" report.
Here are the key takeaways:
🔥 The past decade (2015–2025) has been the hottest on record. 2025 was the 2nd or 3rd warmest year on record ( 1.43°C above pre-industrial levels).
🌫️ Greenhouse gas concentrations are at their highest in 800,000 years.
🌡️ Earth’s energy imbalance is now at its highest level in 65 years—meaning more heat is being trapped than released.
🌊 The oceans continue to absorb massive amounts of heat and carbon, masking even more severe warming on land. Ocean heat content is at an all-time high, warming faster than ever.
🧊 Glaciers and sea ice are rapidly declining, with Antarctic sea ice at one of its lowest levels ever recorded. Arctic & Antarctic sea ice remain below average, with record lows.
🌪️ Extreme weather events: floods, heatwaves, droughts, and storms, are intensifying, affecting lives, livelihoods, and economies globally.
🌧️ Rainfall patterns are becoming more extreme—too much in some places, too little in others.
🏥 Climate change is no longer just an environmental issue, it is a growing public health, food security, and development crisis. 🦟 Climate change is increasing the risk of diseases like dengue.
The message is clear, the climate crisis is accelerating, and its impacts are deepening across every system.
This is more than data, it’s a warning and a call to action for stronger policies, increased climate financing, and people-centered solutions that protect both people and planet.
