Just like peanut butter, this groundbreaking scientific discovery was made entirely by accident โ who knew sticky resin could revolutionize modern adhesives? It's a sticky situation we all benefit from! #AccidentalGenius#StickyScience
National Sticker Day! ๐ฆModern dry adhesives, such as reusable stickers and advanced gripping technologies, are inspired by the microscopic setae on gecko feet that create van der Waals forces, allowing them to stick and release without residue.

ALT Did you know that scientists are studying how geckos can walk on walls and even hang from ceilings? ๐ฆ๐ช
Geckos have super sticky feet that allow them to cling to surfaces without any glue or suction cups. The secret behind this amazing ability is millions of tiny hair-like structures on their feet called "setae." These setae create a special force called "van der Waals force" that lets geckos stick to all sorts of surfaces.
Inspired by gecko feet, engineers are working on creating materials with similar properties. Imagine if you could climb walls like a gecko or stick things together without using tape! Scientists are learning from nature to design innovative materials that could have lots of useful applications in the future.
Year 3 have been volcanologists today, learning how volcanoes are formed, the features of a volcano and even creating our own eruptions. We compared the Earth's mantle and crust to custard, and magma chambers to blisters! yuk! #StickyScience#Volcanologists#MakingLinks
The first week of Summer Curiosity Camp is off to an amazing start ๐ค ๐ Our campers are having a blast exploring what makes them curious and their energy is contagious (and MESSY)! ๐

Mixing, predicting, squishing, pipetting, and fun for our scientists this morning, testing glue, making tastey glue and silly putty, thank you Scientist Melinda! @Sci_in_School#StickyScience
Comfy Spirit Day and Sticky Science with Sandra. We had fun making our own stickers, glue and silly puddy. @alcdsb_stpe Thank you Scentists in School!
