Tall candle = strong move, short candle = weak move. But is that always true? A candle can travel a wide range yet close near its open — noisy, indecisive. Another candle can travel a smaller range yet close at the extreme — clean, decisive. The real question is not how far a candle moved, but how much of that movement converted into net directional progress. I built a system to measure this mathematically. The Efficiency Module. How it works 👇 The system calculates each candle’s total movement opportunity (volatility), then measures what fraction was converted into net directional movement. The result is shown as a percentage. But a single percentage is not enough. The system evaluates across three dimensions: 1. Adaptive Percentile Ranking — Current efficiency is automatically compared against recent history. No fixed thresholds. Self-tunes per instrument and timeframe. 2. Trend Coupling — Is that same high efficiency supporting the trend or opposing it? 19 distinct states defined. From Bull Surge to Strong Counter. 3.
