NG is far from being like DMC... and that's more than totally fine, it's actually even welcomed.
What just sorta "annoys" me about discourses like this one is; most people who are claiming such "silly" things usually don't know nor understand for which reasons we used to grind DMC games a lot or generally don't understand much about styleplay - or maybe they simply didn't cared. And the core topic we'd need to talk about is styleplay in general, but i'll refer here for once towards DMC players specifically.
If experienced DMC players would only be able to tolerate DMC games, none of the greater experienced DMC players, or you can even say styleplayers, wouldn't ever have played the NG franchise for over ~1000 hours, myself included... ๐๐๐
Let alone even touched them to begin with. We all do know and appreciate the beauty for NG. Unfortunately gameplay and styleplay usually are the mediums which are receiving the least amount of attention despite a lot of hard work is being invested into it. There are many reasons for it and one of them is; they're not easy to digest in many scenarios unless it's visually clear what's going on, on the screen.
Truth to be told is; DMC players have extended styleplay in general as a whole in NG and even other games.
DMC players aren't per se biased against UT's, but one of the main problems with UT's is; they don't offer many utilities in comparison to like a Counter S with the Dragon Sword. They also need more room of exploitation like being showcased in my attached clip. Plus, some UT's are way too long which you can't cancel out early or anything of the sort. Some players do get tired of watching a "small cutscene" for like the 100th time.
The overall perception would definitely be a different one if UT's wouldn't mostly have been used to get through the story mode with, "ease".
UT's are unfortunately in that manner - tainted.
