At Supercomputing India 2025, Plenary Speaker Dr. Hiroshi Horii, Head of IBM Quantum Japan, presented on “Accelerating Toward Quantum Advantage Together". He announced plans to deploy quantum computing capabilities in India by 2026 and highlighted IBM’s work on fault-tolerant, modular quantum architectures. He shared IBM's goal of demonstrating quantum advantage (ability to execute tasks on a quantum computer offering superior accuracy, validation, efficiency and cost-effectiveness) by the end of 2026 and bringing practical quantum computing to the world through the development of the first large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer, IBM Quantum Starling, by 2029.
