That’s how far this group of women walked to reach our library many for the very first time. Most of them never got the chance to go to school. Married early, their lives moved from one home to another, but books? Books were never part of the journey. Until now. In the video, you’ll see something simple, yet extraordinary, women entering a library, eyes wide with wonder, fingertips tracing the spines of books they never imagined they'd see, let alone hold. At our core, we believe reading is thinking, and reading is for everyone. We need your support to sustain and deepen this crucial work. There’s something unmistakably special in the air when a new book bag arrives. This time, thanks to the generosity of Kahani Tree and Librarians of India, both our shelves and our hearts feel fuller. The moment the bag reached the library, our members gathered around, eager, curious, and filled with anticipation. “Can we open it?” they asked the librarians, their eyes already scanning for the stories waiting inside. What follows is a beautiful ritual: books are explored together, pages are flipped with wonder, and recommendations begin flowing even before the books make it to the shelves. One member picks a title and says, “This one is perfect for you!” and just like that, stories start finding their readers. There’s a certain electricity that comes with new books. Monthly Update Report from the ground!! Dear Friends of the Library, April at Bansa Community Library was a month of reflection, learning, and deep community engagement as we observed Dalit History Month. We curated a special book display highlighting Dalit voices, histories, literature, and lived experiences, affirming our commitment to social justice and inclusive education. We were delighted to welcome over 410 visitors, issue 285 books, and add 45 new titles to our shelves. Our growing family now includes 40 new members, 20 children and youth, and 20 adults (including 4 women, 4 men, and 12 aspirants). As spring quietly tiptoed into our lives, March blossomed into a month filled with fresh energy, meaningful connections, and powerful stories. Throughout this busy and fulfilling month of March, we were thrilled to welcome approximately 380 visitors and issue 280 books to our community. Our collection continues to grow, with 11 new books added, and we are proud to have welcomed 22 new children and young adult members, along with 4 new adult members — 2 women and 2 men — into the library.
