This video breaks down resistive movements in swimming. Using a parachute analogy, it explains how some actions create drag instead of propelling you forward. #SwimmingTips #SwimScience

Think swimming faster is just about moving your arms faster? Think again. In swimming, speed isn't about brute effort, it's about skill and efficiency. The real magic lies in 'distance per cycle' – how far you travel with each stroke. #SwimmingTips #SwimScience

Want to swim faster? Reduce drag. Gary Hall Sr. says 90% of speed is about minimizing resistance. Every finger angle, head position, and kick counts. Speed isn’t built through effort—it’s unlocked through efficiency. #SwimScience #TheRaceClub #DragReduction

How does your coach teach you to swim breaststroke; with a wide or narrow pull? Here is a velocity meter/smart paddle study of @mattf196 swimming #breaststroke with a narrow pull (although it's still quite wide compared to most swimmers). We compared this #swimtechnique with a wider pull and came up with some interesting results. Check out our subscription on our website where we will compare and contrast a few different techniques of Matt's awesome breaststroke. #theraceclub #swimcoach #swimscience

Velocity Meter & Smart Paddle Analysis - take your swimming to the next level. The sport of swimming has come a long way since it’s origins. And along with it, we’ve seen technology (and how we use it) evolve. Indiana University coach, Doc Counsilman was the first to use slow-motion underwater film to study swimmers back in the 1970’s. Half a century later, and underwater videos are a standard for technique analysis. But now more than ever, we have the ability to be objective instead of subjective in our technique analysis. Instead of watching & taking your best guess on how to get faster or what you’re doing wrong… we can make DATA DRIVEN decisions! At The Race Club, we use 3 technologies in combination with one another to give you a in-depth analysis that you can’t get anywhere else. Learn more about these new technologies (and how they can make you faster) here: theraceclub.com/swim-coachin… Sign up to get tested today! #theraceclub #swimmingtechnique #swimcoach #swimfaster #swimswam #breaststroke #breaststroketechnique #freestyleswimming #IM #backstroke #backstroketechnique #swimsmarter #videoanalysis #velocitymeter #swimmingscience #swimscience #sportscience #biomechanics

Part 2 - The Power of Coupling We find instances of coupling in every stroke but it’s importance to sprint freestyle cannot be understated. Race Clubber, Riley’s sprint free is the perfect example of how powerful it can be! Despite pulling with less propulsion with her right hand, she reaches a significantly higher peak velocity. The reason this happens is because she recovers her left arm (during the right arm pull) with a straight elbow. This straight (high octane) arm increases the radius of her recovery and therefore, speed of the hand. This, in turn, increases the speed of her rotation and allows for her pulling hand (right) to hit this higher peak velocity. If she can imitate these mechanics during her left arm pull/right arm recovery, she’ll be able to push her speed through the roof! #swimtechnique #swimcoach #swimmingcoach #swimmingtechnique #freestyletechnique #sprintfree #swimscience #swimfast #swimfaster
