Our new sculpture of Rosalind Franklin in
#TCDOldLibrary has a crystal necklace - apt for the x-Ray crystallographer extraordinaire. I was thinking today of her famous (& used without her permission) photograph 51 - instrumental in discovering the structure of DNA 🧬🧬🧬
ALT Photograph 51 - an x Ray of a gel composed of DNA fibre that was taken by Rosalind and her lab - you can see an x like structure clearly that would have revealed the double helix structure of DNA
ALT Close of of Rosalind Franklin structure with shelf of library books in the background. A glittering necklace of crystals is around her neck. The sculpture also depicts the fabric of her dress really well.
