Because on the current and foreseeable techlevel it's physically impossible. You either have modern industry and the ability to feed 8 billion: then you need to burn fossil carbon, if not for electricity, then for transport -- or you run on solar and wind: then billions starve.
This might sound pessimistic, but I’ve always wondered why no billionaire has single-handedly funded the halting or reversal of climate change purely for the narcissistic thrill of being able to say they literally saved humanity.

You should really check out the manga, the Tolmekians are not the only super power, they have a rival in the north, another large Empire and they are fighting a large scale war on with them, on WW1-techlevel with artillery and trenches and cavalry charges

the problem is the Techlevel, 40k has over 35k Years ahead of Battletech, ok they lost a lot.
So if we think of the Wepons the same size have the same Poweroutput, go to the Warhound Titan, slightly larger then an Atlas? Turbolaser could be ruled as LPL maybe.

well i try to stay on a similar Techlevel as the LAM's so at max basic Lostech.
Rifleman is cheaper in BV so it could bring another unit along.
But there are not many AA Options before the Clan Invasion.
2 Partisan with an Ammotrailer and the LAM is gonna run out of fuel.
