ALT This project focuses on air quality in West Atlanta; using an U.S. EPA grade air monitor at a local fire station, the project focuses on pollution sources within a 3 mile radius of this site. They engage community members and educate them about criteria pollutants and volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), air pollution sources, Environmental Justice, health disparities, and the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders and public officials. The project engages the community through community conversations, Environmental Justice bus tour(s), and by having individual and community air monitoring treks using personal hand-held monitors.

ALT Gwen founded CHARRS in 2016 as a non-profit community organization under the name of Collier Heights Assoc. for Revitalization Resilience and sustainability the organization is committed to EJ, environmental and economic health, education and social equity. CHARRS looks at social determinants of health, their impact on African American and underserved communities and implementing solutions to the inequities.
ALT Dr. Na'Taki Osborne Jelks an Assistant professor in the Enviromental and health sciences program at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA. she investigates urban environmental health disparities; the role that place, race and social factors play in influencing health; cumulative environmental risks and health; the impact of climate change on vulnerable populations, and the connections between urban water sheds, pollution, the built environment, and health.
