You see this? #TheBailProject bailed out a wife-beater.
He unalived her hours after he got released. No pause.
 No apology.
No accountability. This is what happens when woke ideology replaces reality. We used to deal with these people appropriately.

Crime hurts. Justice should heal. That’s why today, the National #DayofEmpathy, and EVERY day, we at VOCAL-KY support opportunity, restorative justice and inclusion-- that breaks down negative perceptions and barriers to success, post-incarceration. Our elected leaders should know that #DayOfEmpathy means a great deal for all those who are justice involved. Kentucky has alarming rates of women and children who are impacted by incarceration. Kentucky has bills like #HB5 that will increase incarceration. Kentucky already has an aggressive incarceration timeline. Read this report by the VERA Institute: vera.org/in-our-backyards-st… I haven't missed a #DayofEmpathy since it began. I helped organize in previous years with #Cut50, #TheBailProject, #TheACLU, #SmartJusticeAdvocates, #TheKentuckyAlliance and #TheSpecialProject now known as #LouisvilleFamilyJusticeAdvocates. I, Shameka Parrish-Wright, do this work in honor of my father, who spent 40 of his 56 years on this earth in and out of prison and my brother who is now 4 years post-imprisonment. I stand in solidarity as a justice involved black woman leader. Thank you to those who are able to be at our #Kentucky State Capital today for #DayofEmpathy 💕 Our VOCAL-KY.ORG members, leaders, and staff are excited to join Dream.org and all of our community partners.

May 29, 2020 was significant. We knew we were not going anywhere. The police and administration refused to comply even though we knew #LMPDisGuilty. Every day during the #JusticeforBreonnaTaylor Movement at #InjusticeSquare, we all wore tee shirts with a message. Although there were some agents and fakers, those shirts helped us identify our people. I don’t know about y’all but I got a big bin full of social justice tees next to my bed. It grew so much in #2020. My husbands and kids collections grew too. If you know me, you know I don’t wear a lot of branding but I will rock a tee with a message:-) From #StandwithBlackWomen to #BreonnaTaylor to #NoMoreNoKnocks to #BlackLivesMatter to #TheBailProject to #GeorgeFloyd to #100DaysatInjusticeSquare, there was a shirt to take you there. Please share your favorite quote, memes, pictures, shirts from 2020 and beyond here or at wegettheretogether.com #memorialday #memorialdayweekend #MondayMotivation #endpolicebrutality #endgunviolence #endthestigma #mondaymood❤️ #wedeservebetter #wegettheretogether

On May 28th & 29th of 2020 a group of organizers, organizations and people who were just fed up showed up because #LMPDisGuilty. We knew #BreonnaTaylor should be alive and when the 911 calls with #KennethWalker was released, it confirmed our worse fears and removed some of the benefit of doubt our police received. I want to thank everyone that showed up, stood up, donated, prayed, stayed and loved on us as we help sustain one of the longest civil rights protest in our history. 💕✨️💕 I was the leader of #TheBailProject & newly elected co-chair of The Kentucky Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression along with Tyra Walker & Dre Dawson. I decided to be a resource, have my team work from Jefferson Square Park and renamed it #InjusticeSquare Park, because we knew the #JusticeforBreonnaTaylor Movement needed a base. No one had all the answers or did it all by themselves, and everyone wanted to do something. It was a complicated mess, both beautiful and ugly but there was more unity & solidarity than anything else.❤️ Things were not perfect and but our corrupt police department and the administration that let it run our city were far from innocent. They used the media to try to control the narrative, but it was our own 502 llive streamers that captured it all. Yes #GeorgeFloyd, #AumadAubrey and too many others were relevant catalysts, but we had our own: #BreonnaTaylor, who once worked for the very system that killed her. A first responder, dedicated to saving lives, had her life take through negligence when former Judge Mary Shaw started it all by signing bogus death warrants without scrutiny in minutes. We always knew why we were there. We always had demands. We met people where they were and 3 yrs later we must #KeepGoing because #justicecomesinmanyforms. Thank you to the pro bono attorneys & people that worked inside and out. Over 1,000 of us were arrested and some are still fighting related charges. Corruption uses the judicial process to play the long game. So we will keep honoring those lost & push on for justice, equality & an end of #policebrutality Please share your words, stories, poems, memes, art, photos, and more here: wegettheretogether.com

Because of this strike, grassroots advocacy, and a major lawsuit, California reduced solitary numbers and duration. Currently, Dolores serves as the Community Outreach Director for @thebailproject and is a member of UTB’s Steering Committee.

Unaffordable cash bail kept her behind bars, while legally presumed innocent, when she should’ve been at home with her partner. We’re fighting to take money out of the justice system so that no one else has to experience what Nala did. #thebailproject #WeARECommunity
