We glance at the clock... I suppose we'd better head back so we're not stuck on the last ferry off the island. We gather our things and saunter towards the dock, savoring every last moment here.
Then we see it. Thunderstorms on the eastern horizon ⛈️. And they're moving our way!
The Raptor Runner returns, and the captain lets us know we need to wait as they round up everyone else on the island. Nobody wants to be stranded on Big Hickory Island during a summer storm. So much for that earlier joke about marooning people out here!
The distant rumblings grow louder as the other boats begin making a run for safe harbor in Estero Bay. Before long, we're joining them, all hands accounted for. Soon, the expert crew has returned us back to the @Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Hotel and Resort. We can only laugh at this turn of events, and be grateful for the chance to experience what we did at Pelican Landing Beach Club.
Hopefully the weather will clear up for tomorrow when we venture into Fort Myers.
