I don't get why the actual day of the week actually matters on Jan 1. We get it off anyways (unless you work as slave in the food industry in which you also work today (actually a lot of places are open today)) match it up!

Have you seen clickspring on YouTube? He is making an authentic replica of the antikythera mechanism with handmade tools - it’s slow going but the craftsmanship is breathtaking.
I'm planning an article on just this subject! The opinion I've heard is that they're OK to wear, but the lume gets friable, so working on them needs ventilation and a serious mask. Suspect @DrStruthers will know a great deal more.
