Day 4/100 of my Solidity journey 🧵 Today I built two smart contracts: A custom ERC20 token and a token-locking contract. Using the OpenZeppelin ERC20 implementation, I created a token called Pepe (PEPE) with a fixed supply minted to the contract owner. The contract stores: • The owner address • A lock token address that will interact with another contract When the contract deploys, it mints 21,000,000 PEPE tokens to the owner. I also created a second contract called TokenLock. This contract allows users to lock ERC20 tokens inside the contract using transferFrom(). How it works: 1️⃣ A user approves the contract to spend their tokens. 2️⃣ They call lockTokens() to send tokens to the contract. 3️⃣ The contract holds those tokens securely. 4️⃣ Users can later call unlockTokens() to withdraw them There’s also a function to check the contract’s token balance, making it easy to see how many tokens are locked. Why this matters in DeFi: Token locking mechanisms are used in many crypto systems like: • Liquidity locking • Token vesting for teams • Staking systems • DAO treasury management • Airdrop vesting schedules Learning how tokens move between contracts is a key step toward building DeFi protocols.
