It depends on what you consider risks and how ideal you are as a candidate. Thin, irregular corneas -> no SMILE for you. TransPRK comes with more structural integrity guarantees, but it also comes with more side effects that you avoid with SMILE. If you consider minor side effects a risk, then SMILE is less risky.

Did you do any research on other laser eye surgery methods like transprk to see if they were safer alternatives to SMILE?

I have done TransPRK which is no touch LASIK on Schwind Amaris machine. Went from -4.5 to 0 power. Goated surgery. No side effects in my case.

بهترین کاری که تو عمرم کردم. ۵ سال پیش عمل transPRK کردم و نمره چشمام ۵ بود. الان چشمام به ندرت خشکی می‌کنه. فقط اگر آدمی نیستید که مراقبت های بعد عمل رو جدی بگیرید اینکارو نکنید، چون خیلی مهمه داروها رو به موقع استفاده کنید و بعد از دوره‌ی نقاهت همیشه تو نور عینک آفتابی بزنید.

عینکی‌ام ولی شنیدم عمل transPRK خیلی خوبه. بدون برش. فقط با لیزر. کلا هم یک دقیقه طول میکشه.

Какой кайф выкинуть очки. Проходил в них лет 9, сегодня сделал TransPRK, обещали сильный отходняк, а ничего нет, ничего не болит, чуть-чуть блюрри пока что, но в остальном - топ за свои деньги!

congrats on ur PRK! i got transPRK for a similar reason (my max pupil diameter was very large and not suitable for lasik due to risk of night vision issues... which no one told me lmao i had to do my own research) recovery is slower but chance of complications is *much* lower

It’s more than that. DYOR, but for laser, T-CAT based TransPRK is almost always better than LASIK. ACD willing, and if you can afford the outpatient procedure with an experienced surgeon, I found that V5 ICL was the best option for risk and outcomes.
