When I treeplanted in BC, we called bear bells “dinner bells” and pepper spray “seasoning”

Not just worked my ass off, scrimped and went without along the way. At uni, treeplanted in the summer to graduate almost debt free. In my 20s, took almost no vacations, took all the extra work I could get, bought a house that my friends mocked me for. Drove a civic into my 40s. Saved and invested each month. The market was dead and my friend couldn’t sell his house, so I bought it off him when people said I was crazy for helping him and was buying a lemon. Those same people complain that they never had a chance to buy a home and are mad I have 4.

When I treeplanted, seeing the previously planted sections was surreal: all the trees are clones. Same height, width, branching. Acre upon acre as far as you can see.

Legal littering. Around 12-13 years ago this place was treeplanted and littered with plastic ribbon. To make sure we grow really uniform fully stocked conifer tree farms planters use non-biodegradable plastic ribbon to mark their trees to maintain uniform spacing. After 13 years this tape is still fully intact. You could call RAPP at @_BCCOS for this industrial littering, along with the plastic bags they hang in trees for the herbicide helicopters to see but you’d be wasting your time. Big industry is allowed to litter.

Yes partial cuts don’t really need to be treeplanted. Also, they will still use non-biodegradable flagging ribbon to mark where every single tree is.

I treeplanted back in the early 90's and had a couple of seedlings left in my bag one night so I stuck them in my parents property. This is me standing between them now! Side note for @stopthespraybc They have amazing deciduous shade and protection you can see to the south ;)

I’ve treeplanted for 23 years on and off those fir will get cooked in that clearcut. They need shade. Either selective cutting or deciduous. What will happen is any pine that are planted will do great and voila, another pine plantation. Most flammable forest we could grow.

Treeplanted on and off for 23 years. Feel the pain. I’m criticizing myself here as well. No offence. If it’s low, it’s to make a point this needs to change. And I think brushing has a future. Just not against aspen/deciduous.

Treeplanted in Northern BC during summer in university. The camps had tent showers with 2 temperatures - cold or scalding. You had to stand to the side of the shower-head and flick water onto your face and body. Super fun at 6:00am before a 12 hour day. (I now have a desk job)
