Dear Realtors, Land Agents, and Prospective Buyers,
There is an urgent need to restore truth and clarity in real estate marketing. Too often, clients are misled by exaggerated claims and deceptive descriptions, only to face disappointment when they finally visit their properties. I recently encountered a case where a client, after years of investing from afar, was heartbroken to discover that what was promised as a fast-developing neighborhood was in reality a poorly accessible, under-serviced area.
From rough, unmotorable roads to isolated lands sold under the guise of “future development,” these practices erode public trust. Let’s be honest, properties in areas like Oba-Ado, Ajila, Idi-Ahun, Akuru, Abobo, and Abese cannot rightfully be described as Elebu or Oluyole Extension. Likewise, estates in Ayegun-Oleyo are certainly not within a 10-minute drive from Akala Express, even on the best of days; personal experience shows it takes closer to 17 minutes by bike and over 30 minutes by car.
Authenticity sells better than deception. As realtors and marketers, our duty is not just to sell land, but to sell trust. Let us promote transparency, accurate representation, and ethical marketing that truly reflect the realities on ground. Only then can we build a real estate sector grounded in integrity and lasting value.
