never said they merged the engines, i meant they merged the tech by porting. like they did with turbotech from red engine to UE5 rebranded as fastgeo. also cdpr veteran patrick k mills has expressed how similar both engines are, other cdpr engineers have explained the process.

Cyberpunk has a technology called TurboTECH which allows for rapid asset streaming, this alleviates traversal stutter but requires an SSD. My guess is they are bringing this to Witcher 3 since there's gonna be a huge uplift in assets and its fidelity in the new Expansion.

Wonder which CDPR devs will be doing presentations here. That one CDPR Engineer (I think his name is Jaroslaw) is frequently working with Epic Games at these events, he's the same guy who talked about Optimising CPU Utilization and TurboTech for UE5 and Witcher 4.

They didn't "drop" it, instead they migrated and ported all their RED Engine systems and merged it within UE5 via their 15-year contract with Epic Games. This is how you have FastGeo in UE5.6 from CDPR's TurboTECH which was used in RED Engine 4 (Cyberpunk 2077) and much more.

Yes it is thank you! Bout fucking time AAA devs start using newer UE5 versions. Most them are still shipping on 5.1-5.3 in big 2026. UE5.6 has CDPR's FastGeo tech which was called TurboTECH in REDEngine4's Cyberpunk 2077. Also 2x better HWRT since the start of UE5.

yeah that was possible because of TurboTECH, however a CDPR engineer admitted the drawback is pop-in which they accept in trade for smoothness. Traversing in Cyberpunk rapidly causes blatant pop-in issues on all platforms even at max settings UE5's Virtualization neutralizes it

CDPR ported their RED Engine tech over to UE5 through a 15-year co-development contract with Epic. CDPR gets access to 9th gen DX12 tech they never had before, Epic games gets access to CDPR's Openworld RPG subsystem tech like TurboTECH. This is public knowledge since 2022 btw.
Huge shame that CDPR are moving away from Red engine imo. If Cyberpunk was on UE I'd wager we wouldn't have seen these updates on PS5 Pro, likely wouldn't have the game on Switch 2 and wouldn't have the same experience on PC in terms of all the advanced rendering and scalability. CDPR quite literally made it clear these past years they are ditching the "PC first slash down for consoles later" approach for the better current "Console first scale up for better hardware later" approach. They did this to stabilise development and testing, so they don't repeat another situation where Witcher 2, Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 released with technical faults. They also did this because they have a 15-year contract with Epic Games to market UE5 development merging tech/ideas between CDPR and Epic Games (such as merging RED Engines TurboTECH into UE5.6 ). UE5 targets PS5 hardware which is AMD RDNA2 (it can do Next-Gen DX12 features such as Hardware Raytracing and Mesh Shading - Nanite Rendering of Geometry, Foliage and Shadows | Witcher 4 uses all of this.)

Which GPU are they going to target? The dead 5090? 😂 Good luck getting it to work on the switch 2 which is what they want. Square is will learn a bad lesson from this. Just like how cd projeky red decided to forgo the PC as a baseline going forward.
