"Hey, Jr.," Trump began, his tone casual but with a palpable undercurrent of urgency. "You got a minute?"
JFK Jr. paused, folding the newspaper neatly and placing it on a glass coffee table. Meeting Trump's gaze with a mixture of curiosity and caution, he replied, "Sure, Don. What's on your mind?"
With a slight hesitation, Trump took a deep breath. "I need you not to get on that plane this week."
JFK Jr., taken aback, raised an eyebrow. "Why? My foot's healing pretty well, and I've been cleared."
Trump leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. "It... doesn't end well."
JFK Jr. shifted in his seat, a bemused expression on his face. "Sounds a bit outlandish, Don. Time travel? Seriously? We're not in a sci-fi novel."
Then he paused, the weight of Trump's words sinking in. The memory of his father, JFK Sr., whose life had been abruptly and violently cut short, suddenly hung in the room.
"You know, my father's death always seemed... wrong. If time travel were real, could it have been prevented? Could anything be undone?" JFK Jr. asked, his voice trailing off.
Trump looked at him, understanding the pain behind those words. "I wish I knew, Jr. But right now, I need to show you something." Drawing a small, worn-out notebook from his pocket, Trump continued, "Let me prove it to you by inserting a book in the past."
JFK Jr. smirked, leaning back with feigned skepticism. "Alright, I'll bite. Checking...; there's no book named 'Travels and Adventures of Little Barron Trump'."
"Trust me on this," Trump pressed, scribbling an address on a piece of paper. "Go to this bookstore tomorrow at exactly 11:11 AM. Ask for the book."
The next day, an astonished JFK Jr. stood outside the old bookstore, the very book Trump had mentioned in his hands. The pages smelled of antiquity, belying its supposed newness. Confronting Trump later that day, he demanded, "How on earth did you pull this off, Don? This book's over a century old now!"
Sighing, Trump motioned JFK Jr. to sit. "It's a legacy passed down in my family. My uncle John had unprecedented access to Tesla's work. Things the public never knew."
JFK Jr.'s eyes darted around, connecting dots. "The same uncle John who had dealings with the Bushes? I've always been wary of them, you know."
Trump nodded, acknowledging the shared sentiment. "I'm well aware. But right now, we need to put differences aside. I have a plan."
JFK Jr., his intrigue now piqued, leaned forward. "And what's that?"
Trump, looking into the distance, pondered their next steps. "Have you ever considered how many other 'inserted' books there might be? Alterations to our history?"
