The PHC has organised a stakeholders’ consultation with representatives of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Pakistan (SOGP) and Pakistan Society of Anaesthesiologists (PSA) at the PHC head office to review the draft guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the caesarean sections and administering of the anaesthesia. Renowned experts Prof Saqib Saddique, Prof Ashraf Zia, Prof Tayyaba Waseen, Prof Rubina Sohail, Prof Arshad Chohan, Prof Dr Syed Zia Haider and others participated in the consultative meeting. Chief Executive Officer PHC Dr Muhammad Saqib Aziz chaired the meeting. He gave the opening remarks, and apprised the meeting about the objectives of the guidelines and SOPs. He provided insight regarding the number of C-sections, being carried out in Punjab under the universal health coverage (UHC) programme, showing that roughly 80 per cent of the total deliveries were C-sections, while the normal cases were 20 per cent. “It is important that the document contains all the important aspects, which should be considered while performing C-sections,” he added. After this, a presentation about the draft standards was given. The experts thoroughly discussed and reviewed the outline, and gave their feedback. Prof Rubina Sohail highlighted the need for categorisation of pregnant females into high, medium and low-risk pregnancies during antenatal care, so that appropriate care could be planned, and timely referrals could be managed, when needed. To further the process, the inputs of the experts would be incorporated into the document. After this, another meeting would be called to discuss the document before finalising the draft. #phc #punjabhealthcarecommission #zindagisehatsay #PHCConsultation #MaternalHealth #SOGP #PSA #CSectionGuidelines #AnaesthesiaStandards #HealthcarePakistan #Obstetrics #Gynaecology #MedicalGuidelines #HealthcareConsultation #UHCProgramme #PregnancyCare #CSectionProcedures #MedicalExperts #HealthPolicy #SOPReview #AntenatalCare #HealthcareQuality #PatientSafety #MedicalStandards #HealthcareMeeting #MedicalFeedback #DraftReview #MaternalCare #WomenHealth #PublicHealth #MedicalUpdates #HealthMatters
