Considering how dangerous mines and UXOs are as of late, along with drone threats, that’s true. Alternatives must be found.

Troops Foil ISWAP/JAS Attack on Military Position in Borno, Recover UXOs By: Zagazola Makama Troops of 3 Battalion (Main)/24 Task Force Brigade have successfully repelled an attack by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State. Security sources said the attack occurred at about 2:44 a.m. on June 12 when terrorists launched coordinated assaults on the troops’ location from Wurge, Manawaji and Kinuba. According to the sources, the troops engaged the attackers with superior firepower, supported by reinforcements from battalion headquarters, as well as mortar and artillery fire support, forcing the insurgents to withdraw. Following the encounter, the fleeing terrorists retreating and scampered into the bushes. At about 5:45 a.m., troops and auxiliary forces conducted a follow-up exploitation along the withdrawal route towards Wurge, during which three RPG-7 high-explosive unexploded ordnances (UXOs) and two torchlights were recovered. The sources further disclosed that a main battle tank developed technical faults during the aftermath of the engagement, while one soldier sustained injuries from fragments of an RPG blast. The wounded personnel was evacuated to the 3 Battalion Regimental Aid Post (RAP) for medical treatment. Military authorities said clearance and follow-up operations were ongoing in the area to consolidate gains and prevent further terrorist regrouping. They reaffirmed commitment to sustaining aggressive counter-terrorism operations across the North-East theatre.

When the uxo is poorly I know there are many Mistress’s like me, running an FLR with lots of cruelty for our uxos, (it’s what they need after all, even though they may hate it at the time of delivery). Lots of cruelty for our uxos.. msscarletuk.wordpress.com/20…

My thoughts on the Apache that was shot down by Iran: I cannot begin to explain how lucky that Apache crew was that was shot down. Yes, UXOs happen, but that is just part of the luck (especially since it was on fire!). Apaches have a tandem cockpit, which means the pilots sit one in front of the other, like a fighter jet, rather than side by side like most helicopters. The fact that the drone hit between the two pilots without actually hitting one of the pilots is just wild…there isn’t that much room for that not to happen. Then, having to ditch in the Strait of Hormuz after a drone crashes into you and your helicopter is on fire with flames likely filling your line of sight. Sounds like they likely did power-on ditching procedures, but once they jettison the canopy and hit the water things happen fast. Helicopters roll when they hit the water and start to fill up with water. It’s very disorienting and the water is dark. You also still have to worry about the rotor blades. When train for this. We refer to it as “dunker training.” But in the span of most standard Army pilots careers, they usually only complete the initial training, not the annual follow on training that is preferred. The pilots were able to get out and find each other and wait in the water for two hours while a drone boat came and rescued them…. Technology that those pilots likely didn’t even know existed until it picked them up. A lot of things that could have and likely should have gone wrong, didn’t. Things very easily could have ended much differently. Very grateful those pilots are ok. 🇺🇸🙏

Why would you even sit out in the open, far less play arsonist with UXOs? There's no possible positive going to come from this.

This is probably the only chance of the rubble being cleared. Whichever side you favour, or if you are neutral, it does not change the fact that 90 % of Gaza is destroyed and not viable as place to heal and sustain humans. The IDF is currently in the final phase of demolishing any buildings that can provide cover for snipers, so effectively any buildings. Gaza is now mainly toxic rubble laced with UXOs (Unexploded Ordinance). The estimates for clearing rubble, never mind rebuilding anything are over 100B USD and it would/will take many years.
