Now as per Supreme Court, couples Can get a divorce directly without waiting for 6 months.
If parties agree that their marriage has irretrievably broken down, they may agree on the terms of the
#divorce and file papers for an
#uncontesteddivorce, without referring them to the family court to wait for the mandatory period prescribed under Section 13-B of the Hindu Marriage Act.
The very logic of providing 6 months was to give time to the couple to rethink one more time before decision which will change their life and kids forever.
Many times couples have reunited by themself just because they miss each other and you can only realise when you are away from that person for some time. In a few cases, even mediation has helped to reunite the couple and solve their problems through discussion
Respecting SC judgement, however in this fast generation everyone wants everything quick like grocery delivery in 10 minutes, people have forgotten how to be patient and take informed decisions. Quick divorce will spoil the social culture in India and I am sure our % of
#Divorce will increase significantly like West.
Marriage is for life and taking 6 months time to think to reverse the decision is fair enough as per Hindu Marriage Act and should be mandated for benefit of both the parties and their families
