IIIT Hyderabad's work on Indian language AI through initiatives like Adi Vaani and BharatGen shows we can build models suited to our own context. One or two frontier models being restricted does not change the bigger picture; AI is where the world is heading, regardless. What matters more is understanding what these tools are actually for. Healthcare is a strong example; India has the scale of data and clinical diversity to build AI applications few countries can match.
