If the insecurity, economic hardship, fear, and frustration Nigerians are facing every day have not been enough to force serious action from the government, then I donāt think a social media trend will make much difference.
People have been displaced from their homes, families have lost loved ones, communities have been destroyed, and yet the situation continues. This is not a new problem. For over 15 years, from the Boko Haram insurgency to the rise of banditry and kidnappings, Nigerians have lived with the same security challenges.
The government knows exactly what is happening. Lack of awareness is not the issue. The real question is why, despite years of suffering and countless lives affected, the response has not matched the scale of the crisis.
