ODONGO DENIS PETER of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has been declared the winner of the Lira East Division mayoral race, after securing 10,053 votes in the 2026 Local Government Council elections. The results were announced by the Returning Officer, Ipeto Aggrey James, at Lira City Hall in the early hours of Tuesday. He was closely followed by ODONGO EMMY JOE of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), who emerged as the main contender with 8,079 votes. Other candidates trailed far behind, with Omach David polling 899 votes, Okwee George 788, Awany James Johakim 435, Ocip Moses 399, Ongia Daniel 202, Odom Denish 171, and Acar George 155. #UnityfmNews | #UnityA25
