REFLECTING ON BLACK CATHOLIC HISTORY MONTH In researching Black Catholic History Month, we came across truths that stirred our Catholic imagination. See, usccb.org/committees/african… . One such truth is the community that emerged in St. Augustine, Florida – the settlement known as Fort Mose – where freed slaves built a life of Catholic faith and freedom under Spanish rule more than a century before the American Revolution. This happened for several intertwined reasons, including both faith and geopolitical strategy. It reminds us that parts of what is now America – including Black Catholic communities – were formed under Spanish Catholic influence long before the United States existed. And if we want an honest account of American Catholic history, we must include these Spanish-colonial chapters, not only the British and Protestant we usually hear about. It also makes us wonder: What happened to the descendants of these pioneers of freedom? The historical record suggests that the Church, at least in this moment, played a primarily Christian role, albeit with worldliness, in helping free these enslaved people. At the same time, we acknowledge the Church’s sinful failures – acts of commission and omission – that continued well into the 20th century. Yet today, as Catholics who recognize our baptismal responsibilities, we know we are called to stand in solidarity with our Black sisters and brothers, Catholic and otherwise, and to honor their rightful place in our history. To do less is not only an injustice to them; it obscures God’s glory by keeping society in the bondage of ignorance. As we remember these early witnesses to faith and freedom, let us pray that our Church in the United States continues to both raise awareness of racism – including within the Church – and learns to move in bolder ways that invite us all, including our leaders, to be accountable. #BlackCatholicHistoryMonth #BlackCatholics #Solidarity #UnityInTruth #UnityInJustice #Holiness #JubileeYearofHope #JubileeYear2025

The call for Warri State or a boundary readjustment so Warri can join the SW is not separation - it’s self-preservation. It’s about giving a proud people the ability to thrive on their own terms, while still contributing to the greatness of Nigeria. #UnityInJustice #WarriKingdom

In the depths of darkness, @prz_ymn was unjustly imprisoned, a mere pawn in their deceitful game. Behind cold bars, his voice was stifled, his image manipulated to deceive the very people who believed in him. Their empty promises and false displays of loyalty left @prz_ymn’s supporters grieving, their trust shattered by betrayal. The symbol of hope they flaunted, an unfulfilled promise paraded for all to see, a facade that crumbled as the truth emerged. From island to island, they spread their web of lies, but today, the veil is lifted, and the nation awakens to their true colors. The pain of betrayal weighed heavy behind those walls, but @prz_ymn remain steadfast, knowing that justice will ultimately prevail. Their deceitful tactics will crumble, for truth has a way of shining through the darkest of times. @prz_ymn’s supporters, united in their resolve, refuse to be swayed by falsehoods. This is not the justice we all envisioned, not the #DhiveheengeRaajje we yearned for. Yet, from the ashes of deception, a stronger resolve emerges. Together, we stand unwavering, fueled by a deep love for truth and justice that will guide us through the storm. PNF (Peoples National Front) stands as our beacon of hope, as we unite in our quest for a brighter, more just future.🇲🇻🫶💪🏻 #MuizzuNoonGotheh #MuizzuOut #AndhiriRaajje #DeceitExposed #BetrayalUnveiled #TruthPrevails #PeoplesNationalFront 🇲🇻#UnityInJustice #HopeForTheFuture #StrongerTogether #JusticeForPresidentYameen #FreePresidentYameennow @prz_ymn @PNFront @ZeineYameen @MJameelAhmed @maleehjamal

We are deeply honored to participate in the impactful Legal Conference in Freetown, hosted by @SpecialCourt alongside esteemed partners. The conference commenced with insightful remarks from our Honorable Vice President @VP_Jalloh on behalf of @PresidentBio, the distinguished @UN Assistant Secretary-General Mr. Stephen Mathias, and the esteemed Prosecutor of the @IntlCrimCourt, @KarimKhanQC. 🌐 The discussions to follow are poised to explore the significant legal heritage, methodological advancements, and the crucial role of the Special Court for Sierra Leone in fostering human capital development. These sessions underscore our unwavering commitment to the principle "Never again!", a sentiment powerfully reinforced by the University of Sierra Leone Theatre Group's performance, inspired by Omar Farouk Sesay. 👥 Together, we celebrate the SCSL's invaluable contributions to the realms of international justice, peace, and security. #UnityInJustice #GlobalPeace #SCSLContributions

🌹🚩✊ It's disappointing to see such divisive language diminishing the role of lawyers who work tirelessly to protect human rights. The court decision regarding the Rwanda Scheme highlights the need for a humane approach, not a blame game. #HumanitarianJustice #NoDivisiveness Instead of advocating for withdrawal from the ECHR, let's focus on strengthening and reforming it to ensure justice and fairness for all. Working together with our European counterparts can lead to positive change. #ReformECHR #UnityInJustice The right path lies in addressing the root causes of migration and providing support to those in need. We must invest in sustainable solutions, such as aid to countries facing crises, to prevent dangerous journeys and create opportunities. #InvestInSolutions #SafeHavens Tagging @Refugees and @UNHumanRights to emphasize the importance of international collaboration in tackling global challenges. Let's unite in our commitment to protect human rights and build a compassionate society. 🌍🤝💙 #GlobalSolidarity #HumanRightsNow
