Today, I walked over the O2 Arena... 10 months after having a hip replacement.
Originally, this was meant to be a celebration of how far I'd come in my recovery. But with my health not quite where I’d hoped or expected it to be, it ended up becoming something else: a challenge.
Walking over the O2 is a fun day out for most people. For me, it became a way to prove to myself that I can still do anything if I push myself hard enough.
The last 10 months, and even the time leading up to the operation, have been tough. It’s taken its toll.
But now that I’ve done this, maybe I can start to accept that disabilities and health issues don’t have to control my life.
I got to do this with my dad, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for anyone better to share the experience with. Thank you for putting up with me and supporting me every step of the way.
If I can leave you with one thing: get yourself out there, push your limits, and touch the sky.
